Core Passive Whimsical Wonder
Upon entering the battlefield, Yuzuha immediately gains 3 Sugar Points.
Yuzuha can have up to 6 Sugar Points.
When Yuzuha's EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert, EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert, Right Now!, or Ultimate: Surrender or Suffer the Mischief hits an enemy, all squad members receive the Tanuki Wish effect.
Tanuki Wish grants an ATK increase equal to 40% of Yuzuha's initial ATK, up to a maximum increase of 600, and increases the DMG dealt by those with the effect by 15%, lasting 40s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.
If Yuzuha's initial ATK reaches 1,500, she grants the full ATK bonus to all squad members.
Anomaly Mastery: 0
BASE ATK: 0
Additional Ability The More the Merrier
When another character in your squad is an Anomaly character or shares the same Faction:
If Yuzuha's Anomaly Mastery exceeds 100, every point over increases the Anomaly Buildup Rate of characters with Tanuki Wish by 0.2%, up to a maximum of 20%, and all Attribute Anomaly DMG and Disorder DMG by 0.2%, up to a maximum of 20%. When Yuzuha's Anomaly Mastery is at 200, she grants the full buff effect.

Review
The biggest buffs to Anomaly Agents out of any Support while retaining good personal damage and Daze, and even restoring Energy;
Super easy to operate - mostly functions off-field, and features a simple parry mechanic;
Low reliance on her Signature W-Engine, almost at full performance with F2P-friendly options;
Not just good in Anomaly teams — most often the second-best Support choice even outside of Anomaly compositions, only behind Astra Yao;
10/10 character design - addicted to sugar, she's just like me for real.
All skills are worth levelling except for Dodge — costly in terms of skill materials;
The quality of character designs is making nearly every banner impossible to skip, and this needs to stop (it doesn't).
Yuzuha is an S-rank Physical Support Agent who serves as the main buffer to the teams she’s present in. She specializes as an Anomaly buffer via various specialized buffs, however, the best part? She does that while also giving some of the strongest general buffs in the game, that any Agent can use and benefit from to an amazing degree. By these factors alone, from the get-go, Yuzuha appears as one of the most valuable Agents in the game. Throughout this review, we’ll see if this claim is true or not — although you probably saw from our Tier List that it is, already.
Let’s start by explaining Yuzuha’s kit. A summary of it is that you simply want to use her Defensive Assist or unique Parry alternative for it, follow that with an Assist Follow-Up, follow that with an EX Special or Ultimate and you’re already done. The rest of her kit happens off-field and both of those attacks happen to trigger a Quick Assist, so Yuzuha has the perfect opportunity to swap out. Honestly, simply keeping this in mind gives you a good baseline to play Yuzuha with, but we can make do with a bit more details in terms of understanding to get the most out of her.
Our main focus will be on what her Defensive Assists, Parries, EX Specials and Ultimates do, and what they additionally trigger/provide to the team. Anything that we won’t mention - which frankly is just her Dodge and regular Basic Attacks - is simply not worth paying much attention to during gameplay. As usual, Yuzuha is one of those characters who don’t want to use their regular Special and instead make much better use of their EX Special when it’s charged up.
Yuzuha a few defining mechanics her kit revolves around, namely the “Sweet Scare” state, the “Tanuki Wish” effect and “Sugar Point” stacks. We’ll start with Tanuki Wish since it’s her main buff contained in her Core Passive:
Tanuki Wish increases ATK of all squad members by up to 1200 at max level, based on 40% of Yuzuha’s ATK (she maxes this effect at 3000).
Tanuki Wish is activated via EX Special or Ultimate.
The effect lasts 40s and this duration is refreshed when applied multiple times (will be up permanently in battle);
Via her Additional Ability (with an Anomaly or Spook Shack character in the team), this effect also enhances Anomaly Buildup Rate by 0.2% as well as all Anomaly and Disorder DMG per point of Anomaly Mastery over 100, up to 20% for both effects (she maxes this effect at 200).
It is worth noting both of the effects from her Additional Ability are completely separate multipliers to something like DMG Bonus from Disk Drives — so without getting into calculation details, they’re much bigger buffs than these kinds of effects due to their uniqueness.
Next, let’s detail the properties of Sweet Scare:
Sweet Scare is a state applied to enemies that lasts 40s, repeated triggers resetting its duration;
Hitting an enemy with any active character with an attribute attack in this state triggers “Flavor Match” for Yuzuha. This effect changes the element of her off-field attacks (we explain these later) to the element of the character who triggered that effect. In other words, she matches the element of the on-field character you switch into next;
This matters because Yuzuha can apply additional Anomaly matching your active character’s element, speeding up the process of applying Attribute Anomaly on enemies significantly;
Triggering Sweet Scare another time allows Flavor Match to be changed to any other element if necessary;
Sweet Scare is applied following EX Special and Ultimate.
Something that’s worth additionally keeping in mind is the Anomaly Buildup that Yuzuha applies via her Sweet Scare off-field attacks does not influence the calculation for Anomaly DMG. In this sense, she functions exactly like a Bangboo would. This honestly gets into really complicated math so we won’t explain everything here — the TLDR of it is that this is much better as only your DPS Agent’s numbers are factored in for the damage whereas this usually wouldn’t be the case, but Yuzuha still contributes to the buildup itself which is a perk unique to her.
Lastly, Sugar Points:
Sugar Points can stack up to 6 times, and Yuzuha gets 3 at the beginning of battle.
Yuzuha gets 2 Sugar Points when using Ultimate, and when using EX Special. She also gets 1 Sugar Point when executing a Chain Attack.
Sugar Points can be consumed 1 at a time to trigger Aftershock DMG by causing Yuzuha to spin when off-field, dealing damage to enemies before launching a shell attack (which consumes the point). This occurs whenever other characters land a hit on enemies while Yuzuha has Sugar Points.
Finally, we’ve gotten through her unique resources. Keep in mind, as usual, that it’s important to manage these properly to ensure optimal combat performance, but luckily, this is extremely easy to do.
An additional perk to note is that her Ultimate restores 25 Energy to both of your party members other than Yuzuha. Additionally, Yuzuha’s EX Special has two variants, one of the two is preferred as it is quicker to perform (even though it has a lower multiplier, this is always much better due to how Anomaly calculations work and helping with minimizing field time). This quicker EX Special is usually triggered by pressing EX Special right after an Assist Follow-Up.
Yuzuha’s Assist Follow-Up also has two variants. One is much more powerful to execute as it has a much higher DMG and particularly Daze multiplier. This special Assist Follow-Up is performed by pressing Basic Attack after a specific visual cue following a Parry or a Defensive Assist, which should appear as a small yellow flash triggering a different animation than a regular Assist Follow-Up, where Yuzuha spins around instead of immediately attacking forward. This is essential to execute to ensure optimal Daze application, which Yuzuha can contribute a lot towards due to her tendency to execute these Assist Follow-Ups as a core part of her combos.
Yuzuha’s Parries are triggered by holding Basic Attack while she’s on the field, which makes her enter a Parry stance, causing Yuzuha to instantly react with a Parry when attacked. It takes a second or so of holding Basic Attack in order to enter the Parry stance in the first place — hence, it should be used by anticipating an enemy attack instead of reacting to it like you would with Yixuan’s EX Special for example, or simply Yuzuha’s own Defensive Assist by switching her in at the correct timing.
Whether a Parry or a Defensive Assist is triggered really doesn’t matter for Yuzuha as long as you do her proper Assist Follow-Up — just make sure she’s doing one or the other before her EX Special or Ultimate to wrap up her core combo.
We’ve explained all of her off-field mechanics earlier outside of her off-field attacks, so let’s wrap her kit up with those. We already discussed the Sugar Point variant, but at all times her adorable tanuki Kama will assist the active character in attacking enemies by inheriting Yuzuha’s ATK. It also does an extra hit of damage when Yuzuha triggers a Parry.
Enemies inflicted with Sweet Scare will automatically be attacked by Yuzuha every second with any attribute according to Flavor Match. This applies a lot of Anomaly and helps nicely with filling Anomaly gauges for your active Agent. An additional, more powerful attack will be triggered if the enemy has Sweet Scare and Yuzuha activates her Defensive Assist with proper timing, or if she activates her Aftershock off-field Attack with Sugar Points (only the shell attack triggers it). This has the same properties as the automatic attack, only significantly more powerful.
This was a mouthful — Yuzuha gets complicated when trying to optimize her kit. All of those details should allow you to think of proper team combos to make the most use of her Anomaly application, as well as execute her combos at the correct times in battle. As usual, Zenless Zone Zero’s combat is very dynamic so giving a proper rotation that can be consistently executed every battle is frankly not possible to do, but her usual combo of Defensive Assist into EX Special or Ultimate into switching out via Quick Assist should be plenty to get you by with Yuzuha. The rest of her kit happens entirely off-field, so she should be fairly easy to play in battle.
In terms of her position in the meta, Yuzuha is one of the most amazing Agents at the time of her release. She outclasses the top-tier Support Astra Yao in every Anomaly team except some Miyabi teams; she gets very close to her in performance in any team outside of Anomaly. Yuzuha’s straight-up amazing by virtue of the damage she can do if built with CRIT while still retaining great buffing potential similar to hers, even without the Anomaly-specific buffs kept in mind. Remember to only build her with CRIT if her Anomaly can be easily ignored, though.
Realistically, Yuzuha is an Agent that can be used in any team to great effect, much like Astra Yao currently. Each having their own niches where they shine best, we can conclude that Yuzuha is one of the best Supports that will easily find a spot in at least one of the teams on your account as the strongest available choice, particularly if you intend to build Anomaly teams. Whether it’s Jane, Yanagi, Vivian, Piper and others, Yuzuha does it all and has you covered. Definitely a strongly recommended pick-up to make your endgame clearing experience as smooth-sailing as possible.
This tier list assesses Agents (characters) based on their combat potential in Zenless Zone Zero’s most demanding contents -Deadly Assault (DA) and Shiyu Defense (SD).
SD is a similar mode to Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss or Honkai Star Rail’s Memory of Chaos and requires 2 teams of 3 Agents with good Disk Drives and W-Engines. This mode offers a reasonable mix of Boss encounters (single-target) and Elite packs (2-3 targets), allowing multiple characters to find a niche. With that being said, there is a bias towards single-target performance, which may reflect in select character ratings. Additionally, since this content’s goal is to kill all enemies within the shortest time frame possible, Agents who dish out lots of damage quickly instead of damage over time are favoured. This Tier List focuses on Agents’ ability to clear within 150s (2m30s) out of the 300s (5m) needed to obtain all rewards.
DA is a very unique mode in Zenless Zone Zero which offers Boss encounters exclusively, meaning other types of damage than single-target are rarely impactful (if ever). It requires a total of 3 teams to maximize all possible rewards, however only 2 well-geared teams are necessary to maximize Polychrome (premium pull currency) rewards (which are the most important and as a result are what we consider for this Tier List). The goal of this gamemode is to inflict as much damage to a boss as possible in a total time span of 3 minutes, meaning sustainable damage within long time windows is favoured. A maximum of 65000 score points can be obtained by fully depleting a boss’s HP, however this is unrealistic for the overwhelming majority of players while being unnecessary to maximize rewards. Only 20000 points is needed to maximize said rewards, with up to 5000 points being obtainable via Performance (obtained via performing certain actions on specific Boss enemies). Agents’ ability to reach this threshold of 20000 points is what the Tier List focuses upon.
Please keep in mind Zenless Zone Zero is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Zenless Zone Zero is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.

The W-Engines are listed in order of priority. Sometimes the percentages appearing near them won't reflect their performance as pure damage or Stun output isn't the only thing we're looking at - the utility of the W-Engine might be more important than the calculations imply.
1
When the equipper's EX Special Attack or Ultimate deals Physical DMG, their Anomaly Mastery increases by 30/34/39/43/48 for 40s.
When the equipper's Aftershock hits an enemy, all squad members' Anomaly Proficiency increases by 60/69/78/87/98 for 40s. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.
2
When any friendly unit in the squad attacks and hits an enemy, all friendly units' ATK increases by 2.5/2.8/3.2/3.6/4% for 8s, stacking up to 4 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately, and each friendly unit can provide 1 stack of the buff. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
3
While off-field, Energy Regen increases by 0.6/0.75/0.9/1.05/1.2 per second. Attacks from the equipper enhance the squad's DMG against a struck target by 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% for 3 seconds. During this period, this effect is further increased by 1.7/2/2.5/3/3.3% every 0.5s, up to a maximum additional increase of 10.2/12/15/18/19.8%. Repeated triggers only refresh its duration without refreshing the DMG increase effect. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
4
When any squad member enters the field through a Quick Assist, Chain Attack, Defensive Assist, or Evasive Assist, the equipper gains 5/5.5/6/6.5/7 Energy. This effect can trigger once every 5s.
When the equipper consumes 25 or more Energy, the DMG dealt by all squad members increases by 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%, stacking up to 2 times, and lasting 20s. Repeated triggers refresh the duration. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad.
5
Whenever the equipper's attack triggers an Attribute Counter effect, all squad members' CRIT Rate against the struck enemy increases by 12/13.5/15.5/17.5/20% for 12s. The bonuses triggered by the same type of passive effects do not stack.
6
Launching an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack increases all squad members' Anomaly Mastery and Anomaly Proficiency by 10/12/13/15/16 for 10s. This effect can trigger once every 20s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
1
Best generalist Support set, providing a useful 10% ATK on the 2-piece but most importantly buffing DMG dealt by characters entering the field via Quick Assists by upwards of 24%, the biggest buff provided by Disc Drives in the game. Generally a must-have set on any team, but be mindful of ensuring uptime on the buff.
Best combined with your choice of 2-PC Set:
2
One of the best supportive set options. Grants the entire squad a 15% DMG increase for 12 seconds following a Chain Attack or Ultimate, which is easy to time with a Stun window for optimal buff uptime. Additionally grants 20% Energy Regen on the 2-piece to ensure EX Special uptime if necessary on the equipped character, generally used if another Agent in the squad already uses Astral Voice. Should only be used on Yuzuha if Astral Voice is already wielded by another Agent in the party.
Best combined with your choice of 2-PC Set:
Substats: [ATK% > ATK (until 3000) > Anomaly Proficiency > CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG > PEN ] or [ATK% > ATK (until 3000) > Anomaly Proficiency > PEN]
ATK: 3000+
HP: 11000+
DEF: 800+
Anomaly Proficiency: 200+
Always prioritize ATK on your Disk Drives if under 3000 ATK. Anomaly Proficiency is optimal for the best damage at 3000 ATK or above.
Anomaly Mastery: 171
CRIT competes with Anomaly Proficiency in non-Physical Anomaly teams and, as a result, can be considered for Yuzuha's build path. However, with Anomaly teams involving Physical characters, Anomaly Proficiency will be a much more important stat for Yuzuha, and CRIT should not be a priority.

Teams & Synergy
Below we list only the most important synergies for Yuzuha. The character can work with others if you know what to do and how to use them. For more alternatives, refer to the Teams section.
If a column has multiple characters, the bigger one is the priority choice for the team while the smaller ones are alternatives. If they are the same size, either of them can be used.
Considering Yuzuha is a generalist Support capable of acting as one of the strongest buffing options to literally any team in the game thanks to the universality of her ATK buffs and her ease to activate Astral Voice and provide Quick Assists whilst dealing damage from off-field and activating just about any Support W-Engine's buffs fully, it's safe to say that much like Astra Yao, Yuzuha is capable of finding herself as one of if not the best choice to any team in the game. For this reason, feel free to use Yuzuha in any team where Astra would generally be used, particularly Anomaly teams. We won't list them all as the list would be far too long, so below are some examples of the teams she's most effective in:
Miyabi Team
Burnice or Soukaku can also be used in the second slot.
Physical Disorder
Yanagi Team
Soldier 11 Team
Even though Soldier 11 is not an Anomaly Agent, she still wants to capitalize on Attribute Anomalies in order to benefit from her best Disk Drive set, Inferno Metal — for this reason, Yuzuha may even prove superior to Astra Yao in this team.
Bangboo options (Bangboo will mostly depend on the other teammates this Agent is featured with, below are some general recommendations that can be used flexibly):
For more team ideas, check this video:
For more information on Yuzuha's kit and how to exploit her best, we strongly recommend reading our Review which goes in full detail on her mechanics.
Fundamentally speaking, Yuzuha is an extremely simple character to use, who mostly operates from off-field, occasionally swapping in at least once every 40s to keep 100% uptime on her buffs. However, keep in mind swapping her in to trigger Quick Assists may be more frequent when using Astral Voice to ensure uptime on the Disk Drive set effect as well.
Yuzuha has 2 main combos, both starting with a Defensive Assist or Parry which are extremely easy to trigger in various situations:
Starting with Parry
This combo is best if Yuzuha cannot readily trigger a Perfect Assist and needs to be switched on-field, anticipating an enemy attack in the process.
- Basic Attack: Tanuki Cloak (trigger Parry)
- Assist Follow-Up: Stuffed Hard Candy Shot
- EX Special: Cavity Alert, Right Now! OR Ultimate
- Quick Assist is activated (switch out).
Starting with Perfect Assist
This combo is best to execute when an enemy uses an attack that can be reacted with using a Defensive Assist, and Yuzuha needs to step in to refresh her buff count/use her Ultimate (keep in mind choosing to Perfect Dodge with your on-field DPS Agent may be preferred in certain teams while Yuzuha's buff is still up — combos must always be considered within a team context).
- Defensive Assist: Replenish your Fun
- Assist Follow-Up: Stuffed Hard Candy Shot
- EX Special: Cavity Alert, Right Now! OR Ultimate
- Quick Assist is activated (switch out).
Remember Yuzuha's Assist Follow-Up can't be mashed — it needs to be activated at a specific timing to be most efficient. Additionally, please keep in mind that with Yuzuha, Chain Attacks are appreciated to generate extra Sugar Points as well as contribute to team Decibel generation at the same time. Whenever a Stun is triggered, ensure Yuzuha gets her Chain Attack (hence full team Chain Attacks will be privileged, without the Bangboo of course).
Calculations
As is tradition for Support Agents, due to the value of their Mindscapes being extremely variable depending on the team you run them in, we'll be reviewing Yuzuha Mindscapes instead of providing calculations that can fluctuate highly depending on the units and team you're using alongside her.
Provides extra Energy to Yuzuha when entering battle and gives 10% Attribute RES Shred and an effective 6% Anomaly/Disorder DMG increase when her buff is maxed out. Overall similar value to other premium Support Agents' M1, which means always good but not game breaking. Allows Yuzuha to get online at the start of fights immediately, while also boosting her buffing capabilities across the board.
Gives 15% DMG Bonus and 15% Anomaly Buildup Rate increase to the team, and gives Yuzuha extra Chain Attacks when hitting an enemy with a heavy attack outside of Stun every 20s, while allowing Yuzuha to have better uptime on Sugar Points. The power of this Mindscape will be dependant on how willing and efficient you are at utlizing extra chain attacks and the Decibels that come with them. Outside of this, the other bonuses are more favorable toward Anomaly teams, but will still be beneficial across the board. Overall, it's a very strong Mindscape, but one that requires additional thought to get full benefit.
Offers a small personal damage increase for Yuzuha and makes Astral Voice easier to keep active, thanks to the increased Quick Assists, but only really worth the investment if going up to M6.
Substantial damage increase for Yuzuha while significantly increasing the damage of Disorder as well, granting up to a whopping 315% multiplier increase to Disorders for the whole team for a total of 765% instead of the usual 450%. This is Yuzuha's most impactful Mindscape, but also of course incredibly expensive to acquire.
