Review
This tier list assesses Agents (characters) based on their combat potential in Zenless Zone Zero’s most demanding contents - Deadly Assault (DA) and Shiyu Defense (SD). Please keep in mind Zenless Zone Zero is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Zenless Zone Zero is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.
Endgame Modes
One of the better Electric DPS Agents in the game;
Good baseline performance with strong potential for optimization via optimal Stun combos and Perfect Dodging;
Has several different teammate choices that can all perform relatively closely to one another;
Performance is highly reliant on the ability to execute Dodge Counters; may struggle against enemies that are less aggressive/give less opportunities for this;
Likes having at least one inactive Aftershock Agent such as Trigger and Orphie to perform optimally, ideally both at once (Ju Fufu is also an alternative however);
Severe lack of viable F2P W-Engine choices, performance can drop sharply without premium options available.
Soldier 0: Anby (we will shorten this to SAnby in this review), is an S-rank Electric Attack Agent who has gotten direct buffs to her kit in version 2.3! Her damage has been taken to new heights via the release of new teammates such as Orphie & Magus, and overall, she is better than ever, so let’s look into her kit and what has changed with her buffs.
SAnby was the first character introduced of the Aftershock archetype. She synergizes with other Agents of this archetype. One of the most important elements of her kit is her Silver Star Mark which is applied to enemies via a lot of her attacks being her Chain Attack, Ultimate, Basic Attacks. Dash Attack, Dodge Counter, regular Special, EX Special, Quick Assist and Assist Follow-Up. Ultimates and EX Specials always restore the Silver Star Mark to full, provided they fully hit enemies. All other attacks partially fill the Silver Star Mark, separated in three thirds, with a certain amount of Silver Star points. When the mark is at least restored to a third, SAnby’s Special is replaced by Azure Flash, up to 3 consecutive times when the mark is fully restored. If SAnby casts Azure Flash 3 consecutive times on the same enemy within a short amount of time, it additionally activates Thunder Smite, which is an automatic extra Aftershock hit for extra damage. She also follows up with Azure Flash - Boundary for extra Aftershock damage as well at the cost of some extra time.
In other words: SAnby wants to fully charge her Silver Star Mark to use 3 consecutive Special Attacks to deal a lot of damage to enemies.
Via her Core Passive, SAnby deals extra damage to enemies marked with Silver Star, and she also increases the entire party’s Aftershock CRIT DMG by 35% of her own total CRIT DMG. Additionally, other teammates can replenish the Silver Star Mark a good amount via their own Aftershocks, once every 5 seconds which is extremely important for her combos. Another detail most relevant in Shiyu Defense is that defeated enemies with White Thunder afflicted will automatically cause SAnby to unleash Thunder Smite on the nearest enemy.
With her Additional Ability active (requiring a Support or Stun agent to be present in the party), SAnby gets 10% extra CRIT Rate and also gives an extra 25% Aftershock DMG Bonus against enemies marked with Silver Star for all party members (including herself). Plus, her Ultimate and Chain Attack are considered Aftershock DMG. However, this only applies if SAnby is actively controlled on-field. In any case however, activating this Additional Ability is such a huge damage boost that it is a necessity in all of SAnby’s best teams.
SAnby features a 5-part Basic Attack that can simply be held down to perform the full combo. The 3rd hit has the additional property of grouping enemies. This serves as an easy way to replenish the Silver Star Mark when no resources are available. Her Basic 3 is split into 2 parts - The grouping and a finisher. Simply spamming her Basic attack will skip the Finisher and directly go into her Basic 4; however, her Basic 3 Finisher generates a good amount of Silver Star Mark, and hence it is better to wait a short while until she has used her Basic 3 Finisher before continuing pressing the Basic Attack Button.
SAnby’s Dash Attack will ideally not be used in her rotation; however, her Dodge Counter is very interesting because it quickly replenishes about half of the Silver Star gauge on enemies, and it is one of her primary means to do so. It has the added property of making her combos smoother for 15s via a state called Voltage Overload which allows her to cancel any Basic Attack, Dash Attack and Dodge Counter with her Special Attack or EX Special. During this state, her EX Special can now also be activated by simply pressing instead of holding it.
SAnby’s EX Special fully replenishes Silver Star Mark on enemies that are hit by all of its damage. It is essential to her Stun combos and at least one EX Special, ideally 2, must be saved for every Stun window.
Similarly to SAnby’s EX Special, her Ultimate fully restores the Silver Star Mark on enemies hit, and it deals a huge amount of damage. However, even though it has a rather lengthy animation, we still want to use it during the stun window and saving her Ultimate for it is rather important.
Her Chain Attack can additionally replenish a good chunk of the Silver Star Mark per Chain Attack, but since her Stun Windows are rather tight, this doesn’t matter too much - it is primarily used for additional damage and high Decibel generation.
As said earlier, SAnby’s Dash Attack will go unused in her best combos, also applying to her regular Special Attack (without enough Silver Star gauge applied on the enemy) and while her Assist Follow-Up and Quick Assist indeed see use, they do not do anything special and hence are not worth going over in detail.
Thanks to the significant buffs to her damage recently provided in version 2.3, SAnby currently stands as one of the strongest Electric DPS Agents in the game under the right conditions. She performs well against all manner of Electric-weak enemies, particularly those who allow her to use her Dodge Counter often (e.g Defiler, Unknown Corruption Complex).
Obtaining easier combos via her Voltage Overload state, having received damage buffs to her Special Attack via acquiring a new move, having slightly enhanced AoE capabilities via the buff to White Thunder and her Basic 3, being able to replenish Silver Star via other teammates’ Aftershocks, and having increased Aftershock damage as well as having her Ultimate and Chain Attack count as Aftershock damage has helped take her damage to new heights, representing a significant increase in her power level.
She likes taking up active on-field time (partially in order to execute these Dodge Counters) and performs at her best with Agents that allow her to take this on-field time as much as she can, especially with inactive Aftershock Agents (Orphie, Trigger, Ju Fufu are all some of her most important team options and are all part of this niche). This is because inactive Aftershock Agents will enable SAnby to use her high-damaging Special Attacks more often while having their own damage increased by SAnby and creating a team archetype where everyone is buffing each other’s damage and dealing damage at once, with SAnby taking the most on-field presence.
In conclusion, SAnby is a very capable Electric DPS Agent who works in a cohesive team archetype. Outside of this archetype, she remains very much usable as she has a lot of good team options, against enemies weak to Electric and/or enemies that favour performing lots of Dodge Counters. Having recently gotten buffs, she has become stronger than ever and will be a very serviceable DPS to help you clear the Endgame Contents of Zenless Zone Zero.
Please note, that we have omitted the automatic triggers of Special: White Thunder and Special: Thunder Smite for increased clarity.

The W-Engines are listed in order of priority. Sometimes the percentages appearing near them won't reflect their performance as pure damage or Stun output isn't the only thing we're looking at - the utility of the W-Engine might be more important than the calculations imply.
The top number shows the relative performance of the W-Engine when looking at Anby playing with teammates, while the bottom number in the 'vacuum', so just Anby's performance solo. You can find more information about them in the Calculations tab.
For the team calculations, here's the team setup we used for them:

CRIT DMG is increased by 30/34.5/39/43.5/48%. When the equipper lands a hit with a Basic Attack, Special Attack, or Aftershock, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's CRIT DMG by an additional 10/11.5/13/14.5/16%, stacking up to 3 times. The effect lasts for 30s, with each stack's duration calculated separately, and can only be triggered once per use of a skill. With all 3 stacks, the equipper's Electric DMG increases by 20/23/26/29/32%.

Increases CRIT Rate by 15/17/19/21/23%. When the equipper deals DMG with a Basic Attack or EX Special Attack, they gain 1 stack of a buff. Each stack increases the equipper's Electric DMG by 12.5/14.5/16.5/18.5/20%, up to 2 stacks. Each stack lasts 40s. The duration of each stack is calculated separately. Can trigger once per use of a skill. At 2 stacks, the wearer's Basic Attack and Ultimate DMG ignore 20/23/26/29/32% of enemy DEF.

CRIT DMG increases by 50/57.5/65/72.5/80%. When the equipper enters the battlefield, or activates a Chain Attack or Ultimate, they gain 1 stack of Heartstring. Each stack of Heartstring allows the equipper's Chain Attack and Ultimate to ignore 12.5/14.5/16.5/18.5/20% of the target's Fire RES, stacking up to 2 times and lasting 30s. Repeated triggers reset the duration.

Aftershock and Dash Attack focused Disc Drive set that grants 15% DMG to Aftershock/Dash ATKs, 12% CRIT RATE and 12% Combat ATK when fully stacked. S0 Anby can easily fully stack this set and keep it permanantly active with no trouble making it her best Disc Drive set.
Best combined with your choice of 2-PC Set:
Substats: CRIT RATE = CRIT DMG > ATK% > PEN = ATK
ATK: 2800 - 3200+
HP: 10000+
DEF: 800+
CRIT RATE: 58% - 78% (before Additional Ability and Shadow Harmony)
CRIT DMG: 160% - 200%+ (before Core Passive)
CRIT is a more valuable stat for S0 Anby compared to other characters, due to the additional scaling granted by her Core Passive. The 30% CRIT DMG multiplier to Aftershock damage makes stacking both CRIT-related stats even more of a priority.

Calculations
Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables and also the skill of the player is important. As usual, don't compare the numbers between characters.
ZZZ has changed a lot from 1.0 - many new mechanics, enemies and characters have been introduced and biggest of all the game has a new competitive endgame mode Deadly Assault. Deadly Assault is based around dealing as much damage as possible in 180 seconds, because of this we're changing our calculation style away from a focus on burst to instead focus on extended fights over 3 minutes (180s). Also, many Mindscape, Disc Drive and W-enigne calculations can meaningfully change when factoring in the buffs of an Agents best team, for this reason we're also adding a new feature, allowing you to see damage output with one of the agents best teams buffs factored in. We're starting this overhaul off with Alice but will be updating all other characters on the site soon, for this reason, do not compare her calculations to other characters at this time!
This character uses our new calculation format for this reason, do not compare her calculations to older character. We'll be updating all DPS characters soon.
