Review
This tier list assesses Agents (characters) based on their combat potential in Zenless Zone Zero’s most demanding contents - Deadly Assault (DA) and Shiyu Defense (SD). Please keep in mind Zenless Zone Zero is a skill-based game and each character has a different playstyle, difficulty level and even special tricks and combos. Zenless Zone Zero is also a team based game and it's only by combining both these factors to the highest level a character can reach optimal performance.
Endgame Modes
Easy to pick up, with a straightforward gameplan while being effectively immortal.
Performs well even at low investment costs, with ‘cheap’ teams and flexible W-Engine options.
Relatively well-rounded and self-sufficient; has damage, survivability, mob grouping ability, etc.
Tentacles.
Damage is spread out across multiple skills, making her expensive to invest in.
Limited value pull, with only one encounter where she is the best pick for (Wandering Hunter).
Can feel awkward to play in certain teams, especially if missing Lucia.
Tentacles.
Yidhari is an Ice Rupture Agent whose key identity revolves around healing and consuming her own HP, as she gains Decibels with HP loss and does more damage the lower her HP is.
Underneath her portrait in combat, a gauge will measure Yidhari’s “Frost’s Crushing Weight”. By holding Basic Attack, she will begin to consume her own HP and fill up the gauge, charging an alternate Basic Attack “Frostbite Embrace”, which is one of her main sources of damage. This alternate, charged Basic Attack can also shortcut into the 3rd and final hit of her regular Basic Attack, which has healing properties.
Instead of dodging, Yidhari wants to get hit while charging, as doing so leads to counterattacks that fill up the gauge faster. She also has access to a Special counter, which can also fill up the gauge.
Throughout all of this, Yidhari keeps generating Decibels as she loses HP, making for a constant cycle of consuming HP, then healing while dishing out damage, building resources throughout.
Yidhari’s Core Passive is what provides her with stats and resources. Aside from increasing her Base ATK and CRIT RATE, it will provide up to a 100% DMG Bonus increase to all her skills! The lower Yidhari’s HP, the higher the bonus, with it maxing out at 50% of her HP.
Even if she does heal back up to above this threshold, the buff lingers for an additional 5s, so it is rarely a concern, but the same is not true for her Additional Ability, which provides a 50% CRIT DMG increase to Yidhari alongside a 25% DMG taken reduction when under 50% HP. This does not linger for 5s, so be sure to try and keep her HP low at all times!
On top of these stat gains, Yidhari also gets 10 Decibels for every 1% HP that she loses. This applies anytime she loses HP, be it from draining it herself or from getting hit. Such a gain does come at a cost, as her skills have been fine tuned to generate far fewer Decibels than other characters, and unlike regular skills, Decibels generated from HP loss are not shared with squad members.
Lastly, Yidhari gains unique effects when under Ether Veil: Wellspring, which she can activate by building up to 3,000 Decibels. This increases the charge speed of her Basic Attack, makes her Chain Attack hit harder, and summons icy tentacles every 12s when hitting enemies with a level 3 charged Basic Attack or her enhanced EX Special, Glacial Crush.
These tentacles count as EX Specials themselves, and although their damage is rather low, they can be used to refresh effects related to it, like Yunkui Tales’ 4-piece set.
When out-of-stun, most of Yidhari’s damage will come from looping Basic Attacks, of which she has 2 types.
The first, “Crushing Strike”, is her standard Basic Attack string. This is a 3-part string, with weak 1st and 2nd hits, but a strong 3rd hit which also heals 10% of Yidhari’s HP. This should never be used in isolation, as the 3rd hit can be shortcutted into after various skills (Dodge Counter, Quick Assist, Assist Follow-Up, charged Basic Attacks).
This is done via her 2nd Basic Attack variant, “Frostbite Embrace”, which can be referred to as Yidhari’s charged Basic Attack. Holding Basic Attack will drain Yidhari’s HP (only down to 25%!) and build the “Frost’s Crushing Weight” gauge - this will build even if there’s no HP being consumed.
There are 3 charge levels, and only the third should ever be used. Not just because it hits harder, but because Yidhari can shortcut into her regular Basic 3 with a scaling DMG Bonus, up to 30% at max charge.
At levels 1 and 2, the skill is a single spin followed by powerful slams, but at level 3, it goes into a much longer spin - which can vacuum and group up enemies under Elite tier - and then a finisher. The spin does not need to be executed though, as pressing Basic Attack mid-spin will shortcut to the finisher - and that alone is already 40% stronger than a level 2 slam!
Note that while charging, Yidhari takes 25% less DMG (which stacks with her Additional Ability) and she gains 1 charge level when being hit, meaning it’s often a good idea to just take hits for faster charging.
It’s an unremarkable skill that rarely sees use, as Yidhari gains charge levels from getting hit, so it should be avoided unless mechanics call for it (like Wavering stacks on Wandering Hunter).
There is nothing outstanding about Yidhari’s Assists. Her Assists can shortcut into a regular Basic 3, so it can be used for a bit of extra damage and healing, but priority should be given to charged Basic Attacks where possible.
Yidhari has multiple Special and EX Special variants. The default versions (“Cease Thoughts” and “Frost Coil”) are both weak and should be avoided.
The alternate Special, “Surging Cold, Crushing Pursuit” is also weak in damage, but has unique properties. It can be used by pressing the Special button during Yidhari’s charged Basic Attack (be it during the charge or the spin), or by pressing the Dodge button while charging Basic Attack.
This works as a counter, and when successfully countering enemies, it is considered a “Surging Cold”. It will then max out the charge gauge and either shortcut to the finisher hit of a level 3 charged Basic Attack or - if at over 60 Adrenaline - link to Yidhari’s enhanced EX Special.
If used against stunned enemies while Yidhari has at least 60 Adrenaline instead, it counts as “Crushing Pursuit” and also maxes out the charge gauge while being able to link into the enhanced EX Special.
This enhanced EX Special is “Glacial Crush”, which will heal Yidhari for 33% of her missing HP and has a whopping 2,015% damage multiplier at level 12! If used after “Surging Cold” (so, when out-of-stun), it refunds 15 Adrenaline on top, making it much easier to integrate into rotations. It can also shortcut into the finisher hit of a level 3 charged Basic Attack.
As it has such absurd damage values and transitions nicely into Yidhari’s Basics, it is the backbone of her burst, being used both out-of-stun and as part of her in-stun combos.
Yidhari’s Chain is mostly unremarkable, although it does do decent damage which is further enhanced by being in Ether Veil: Wellspring. Fitting in at least 2 in stun combos is usually recommended.
Her Ultimate, however, is very unique. Unlike other Agents, who gain access to Ultimate by reaching 3,000 Decibels, Yidhari’s Ultimate is locked behind a buff, which can be gained by landing the final hit of:
Chain Attack
Charged Basic Attack (Frostbite Embrace’s Finishing Slam)
Enhanced EX Special (Glacial Crush)
Yidhari will consume those Decibels to activate Ether Veil: Wellspring for 30 seconds and gain an Ultimate buff, giving her access to her Ultimate for the next 30 seconds. This is very useful, but it can be troublesome.
It’s useful as it effectively allows Yidhari to overcap her Decibels and stock her Ultimate for later use, so resources are rarely ever wasted.
It can be troublesome though, as if Yidhari does not use her Ultimate within 30 seconds she will lose it. Alternatively, if she refreshes the buff without having used her Ultimate, she does not gain a 2nd stack and loses the 1st stocked Ultimate instead.
Yidhari’s approach to fights is rather straightforward: stay on-field as much as possible and loop her charged Basic Attack (Frostbite Embrace) finisher into her Basic 3 (Crushing Strike). This both has her constantly dish out damage and build resources for stun combos.
It is not recommended to allow the spin from fully charging her Basic Attack to go through, as its damage and resource build values are too low to make it worthwhile - although it can be useful in some modes, like Shiyu Defence, to gather up mobs due to its wide vacuum effect.
Rather than using Dodge Counters on Yidhari, allow her to get hit while charging, as this provides faster charge build. If the charge is just beginning, use her Special counter (Surging Cold) to instantly max out charge and shortcut straight into the charged Basic Attack finisher, or if at above half charge, it’s faster to just get hit for a max charge.
Do try to always link into the Basic 3 after a charged Basic Attack, as it’s the only way for Yidhari to self-heal without expending resources. Anything that shortcuts into the charged Basic Attack finisher means Basic 3 can follow right after, so there’s many opportunities to use it. Since her Decibel generation is primarily tied to HP loss, cycling between healing and consuming HP is an important part of her gameplan.
Between attacks, it’s good to build a habit to swap to other characters every so often, like to a Stunner via Defensive Assists or during Yidhari’s Basic animations to use EX Specials for daze and King of the Summit. Alternatively, swap to a Support to ensure their buffs and Drive Disc effects (like Moonlight Lullaby) are maintained.
When Adrenaline is near cap out-of-stun, a Special counter into her enhanced EX Special (Glacial Crush) should be used, as its obscenely high damage and daze multipliers make it the highest single source of damage for Yidhari. Be careful to not do so when too close to stun though, as Yidhari will want to fit in 2 casts of her enhanced EX Special, but the 15 Adrenaline refund can enable its use even if high in daze build.
Her ideal stun combo demands at least 100+ Adrenaline at stun start and is as follows:
If correctly executed, all hits up to and including the Charged Basic Attack will land in stun. If the enemy can be Frozen, then this can afford additional time to land the Basic 3 in stun, otherwise, it will land just out of the stunned state.
As Yidhari generates plenty of Decibels via her HP consumption, it’s possible to have Ultimate ready for every stun in most fights. In fact, attention should be given to it as Yidhari can occasionally generate Decibels too quickly and have her Ultimate buff run out before or halfway during a stun combo. This is egregious in fights with extended invulnerability phases or Miasma Shield, which can delay stuns.
Build and teams
The W-Engines are listed in order of priority. Sometimes the percentages appearing near them won't reflect their performance as pure damage or Stun output isn't the only thing we're looking at - the utility of the W-Engine might be more important than the calculations imply.
The top number shows the relative performance of the W-Engine when looking at Yidhari playing with teammates, while the bottom number in the 'vacuum', so just Yidhari's performance solo. You can find more information about them in the Calculations tab.

Yidhari already benefits from the 2-piece HP % bonuses, and as she gets free EX Special hits every 12 seconds as a result of her Additional Ability, full uptime of Yunkui Tales’ 4-piece effect can be maintained. These combined make it the strongest set choice for her.

Calculations
Don't use the damage output calculations as an indication on who is worth pulling or investing as those are just simulations and in day-to-day gameplay there's a lot variables and also the skill of the player is important. As usual, don't compare the numbers between characters.
ZZZ has changed a lot from 1.0 - many new mechanics, enemies and characters have been introduced and biggest of all the game has a new competitive endgame mode Deadly Assault. Deadly Assault is based around dealing as much damage as possible in 180 seconds, because of this we're changing our calculation style away from a focus on burst to instead focus on extended fights over 3 minutes (180s). Also, many Mindscape, Disc Drive and W-enigne calculations can meaningfully change when factoring in the buffs of an Agents best team, for this reason we're also adding a new feature, allowing you to see damage output with one of the agents best teams buffs factored in. We're starting this overhaul off with Alice but will be updating all other characters on the site soon, for this reason, do not compare her calculations to other characters at this time!
This character uses our new calculation format for this reason, do not compare her calculations to older character. We'll be updating all DPS characters soon.
For the team calculations (purple chart), here's the team setup we used for them (keep in mind that with different team members, the damage output will look different):
